Comparing Quotes Guide
When shopping around for a new lease car you will probably go to a few different companies and compare quotes. However proceed with caution as prices are not always what they seem, what may look cheap at the outset could turn out very expensive in the long run.
Because there are so many aspects that affect the quotation you are given, you must try to be as specific as possible when asking for a quote, and check it thoroughly when comparing it with others. Important things to consider when comparing car lease quotes:-
• Check the type of contract i.e is it Business Contract Hire, Personal Contract Purchase etc
• Is the mileage shown based on a per annum basis or on a total mileage
• Check the term of the contract
• How many rentals are payable upfront i.e 3,6 or 9 (3 rentals tends to be the normal terms)
• Is Maintenance included in the quote and what is included in the package i.e breakdown, tyres etc. • Are there any options included in the quote – Metallic Paint
• Is Road Tax included for the whole term or just for the first year.
• Does the quote given show the price inclusive of VAT or does this need to be added.
• Check the Excess mileage price
• Are there any hidden charges such as document fees or admin fees payable.
The above points can make a whole lot of difference when comparing quotes so always make sure that when you compare quotes you receive you take these points into consideration Most of the above points have a significant bearing on the lease rental that you are quoted.
Please note there a few tricks that some companies use to make their quotes look cheaper, so check that the quote does include Road tax for the whole term.
The most common way you can be caught out is the initial rental which is normally 3 rentals upfront but some companies advertise deals with 6 or 9 rentals in advance, so please check all the details carefully and always progress a quote with vigilance.
